Laundry Talk!

So, as some of you may know, I am expecting twins :) Not only am I six months pregnant with two babies, I found out a few weeks ago I'm going to have to take it VERY easy until they arrive.

This has me thinking, is someone going to take over my oh-so-dreadful chore of doing the laundry? As for now, I've been instructed not to do it. Hearing you need to go on bedrest for now was NOT music to my ears, but no laundry included in the list of things I can't do, that's another story. Quite frankly, I despise laundry. I probably dislike it more than any other "chore" that comes to mind.

I'm not sure if it's our washer and dyer or just the process of putting the clothes away, but the combination of the two, I do not like. It seems like it take our dryer a full hour to dry any load. I also find myself digging through the dryer during mid-cycle to pull out clothes I don't want to get too dry. I seriously doubt I'm the only woman who feels the need to hang dry completely or partially.

Not only might I not be allowed to do laundry for a few months, but I'm going to have my hands extra full once the twins arrive. I really am not good at appointing others to do my tasks or duties. I've really been thinking of something that would help out both tremendously. If my husband and family are going to help with laundry for now, I'm thinking something quicker that I don't have to worry about over-drying or washing too hard. I also get concerned about the size of ours. I know I often want to shove more in, but I know it won't fit well enough to get it clean. I can imagine my husband wanting to squeeze it in to the brim. You get more done that way, right? Well, only if it actually cleaned when holding a extra full load. It just doesn't as well.

From what I've read, I'm thinking the Samsung Powerfoam Front-load washer and dryer would solve many of this issues with this "chore" that must get done. Everyone needs and wants clean clothes. Maybe santa will come early to our house?

Now, I have a question for you--- Around your home and out of your daily/weekly chores, what appliance would you like to see the biggest improvement in to help simply your life??

I would like to see the biggest improvement in my washer and dryer. My washer makes a loud humming sound and my dryer takes a long time to dry my clothes that I feel I am wasting double the energy than is necessary.

A new washer/dryer that could wash everything in one load. )Folding, carrying upstairs and putting away would be nice too!) :)

Anonymous said...

My washer and dryer are almost 30 years old and do not work well at all. The washer doesn't clean or spin out very well and I have to hang the freshly washed clothes all around for a day before I can throw them in the dryer and it will still take an hour to dry a small load!

Absolutely without a doubt ,it would be the refrigerator. We rent and the frig made a loud sound then stopped working altogether. The landlord replaced it with an older model...which is smaller and I think it was back in the caveman days.So a newer model with a bigger freezer would be great.

lemonlaurie said...

Refrigerator. We rent and the old one was making a loud sound like it was going to take off somewhere...then it dided. So it was replaced with an older model, which has a much smaller freezer,so we can't really stock up on frozen goods.

Where to start!
I think that I would like a washer and dryer that will also fold and put away the clothes afterwards. :)

A better dishwasher would simplify my life. I end up having to hand wash half of my dishes because they don't come clean in my dishwasher.

happiewitch said...

Well, they aren't appliances, but I would like to see the handles on things such as bath scrubbers get longer or telescope further with tighter locks. I have a horrible back, and everyday is a struggle to get my housecleaning done with all the bending and stretching.

seaburd said...

I would like an appliance that makes cleaning stair carpet easy . The vacuum that I have is a pain to use on stairs. seaburd@comcast.net

happiewitch said...

While it doesn't involve an appliance, I would love to see the handles on things like bath tub scrubbers get longer. I am disabled with a really bad back issue and everyday household chores become very painful when you factor in all the bending and stretching especially with something heavy or unruly in my hands that throw me off balance. But of course a new set of washer and dryer that are high performance and top loading would be awesome.

There's a couple of things that this mom of two busy boys couldn't do without! First, the electrolux sweeper for tile, wood, etc. It's lite easy to hide and picks up a ton of stuff that gets dropped. Even my two year old knows when he makes a "messy" to go and get it and clean it up! Teach them young! The other thing is hug capacity maytag cabrio washer and dryer. As much as I too despise folding white socks, I appreciate that I can do it in my own home now and not have to lug laundry to a laundry mat like back in the college days!Plus, you can wash a load and a half at one time! I also love the prefilled purex sheets. Easy, simple and even my seven year old can turn the maching on now!

Good Luck! If you ever find a laundry "fairy", can you send her my way!?
