FIVE YEARS?!?

This is a sponsored review from BlogHer and Slim·Fast.

I was just thinking the other day how Brent and I are quickly approaching ten years. No, not ten years of marriage, but five years. This fall, we will have been together for nine years, though, and married for five. That is pretty crazy to think!

For our anniversary, I'd like us to do something extra special. Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty happy and content with dinner at home or dinning out. I was thinking maybe we could plan a getaway. Maybe if I start planning this early I can find a beach vacation at an inexpensive price!

I'm a beach person. I never really learned to ski well and I just feel like the beach is so relaxing! The thought of laying on a beach right now, REALLY excites me. However, when I think about the beach, I immediately think, "but, how can I go to the beach this soon post baby?" However, then I think "should I be losing more weight this many months post baby?"

When we met, I was recently out of high school and quite thin. Brent had been in college a few years and had managed to stay pretty trim. As the years have gone by, so have the recipes. Recipe after recipe we cook. With work and life, and of course cooking, we haven't always found time to hit the gym. Brent has been much better about this than I have. I must admit, I've never really enjoyed working out for all too long. I'll do it for a couple of months and then I get tired of it and stop. keep a pretty steady pace at work since I don't sit in a desk, so I like to think that makes up for some working out.

This year, we've made a point to try to watch our diet and eat "cleaner" foods. I feel like I have to specific issues that I could work on. I eat too quickly and sometimes I go too long without eating. I think that last one can be the worst. If you wait too long in between meals, you are more likely to eat more. I think that stands true for everyone. I can buy healthy stuff all day....

However, if I don't eat often, I'm likely to eat most of this in one setting.

I'd like to see myself drop a few pounds that I've accumulated over the years. Of course, I want to do this in a reasonable fashion. I think I want to work on eating slower and working in a few more small meals. I think maybe even drinking something like Slim-Fast during the day would help!

I think my anniversary "to do" list will have two topics "$ put in a jar each week" and "pounds aiming to lose" :) This way, I can get excited as one number goes up and the other comes down. At least that's what the possibility of a beach vacation will require!

Speaking of Slim-Fast, how would you like to win a Slim-Fast gift pack??

TELL ME---How do you prepare for a big and upcoming event??

Well, if I had a secret for how to prepare for a big upcoming event, I'd already be slim! BUT, because my husband's 40th birthday AND my brother's wedding are this summer, I definitely need to get ready. For now, I'm working out more frequently - and soon I need to alter my food intake.

I've really been trying to eat healthy and walk/jog on the treadmill 5-6 nights a week. I also do not drink any pop (except for many a sprite once a month). To loose a quick few pounds I really watch carbs as well!

I have a 9 day Mexico vacation coming up next month and I've been watching what I eat and drinking lots of water. I love all the workout videos I can get OnDemand for free and taking walks with my dogs. I'm doing the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for a Cure in November and thats taking a lot of preparation!

I am a 41 year old working mother of three who gets up every weekday morning at 5 a.m. and runs seven miles. I also do strength traing with weights and watch what I eat. I try to stay reasonably in good shape all year long but admittedly I will clean up my eating and excercise more to tone my body if a big event is in site.

Luckily I have nothing coming up, because I have been sick most of the winter with pnuemonia, strep throat and then the flu, so I have done very little to be "event" ready. Hopefully walking again, eating right and getting enough water daily will have me event ready if anything should come up

I'm not trying to slim down for a specific event, but rather I'm trying to improve my overall health and wellness. Although, since swimsuit season is rapidly approaching, it would be nice to be rockin' a slimmer body at the beach :)

I’m doing it the old-fashioned way, watching my calories, portion control and moderate exercise. I'm more focused on long-term weight loss than short-term at the moment.

Thanks for hosting the giveaway! :)
