OnStar FMV

So, you know how there are often times when you are driving and you think, I need to look at the directions. Well, thankfully technology has improved immensely and we can have access to maps and directions while we are driving. However, if you think about it, you have to look at at the directions and the map. Unless you pull over on the side of the road, you are stuck trying to look at paper or your smart phone.

Not with OnStar.

So, you know how most phones now have speakers? Well, with traffic and such, they never seem to work that great. If you are looking for a phone number and trying to dial, or digging through your purse as it rings, you have to take your eyes off the road and at least one of your hands of the wheel.

Not with OnStar.

OnStar use to only be apart of certain motor companies.

Not anymore.

You can now get OnStar FMV. You know what FMV stands for?

For my vehicle.

That's right, your car doesn't have to come with OnStar. You can add it to your vehicle!

Thankfully, Brent and I have had the opportunity to try out the new OnStar FMV system for one year! So far, we are loving it! It's a simple review mirror that replaces your original and it is capable of helping in so many ways!

We've gotten directions and the OnStar employees we have spoken with have been so nice and helpful! I just feel more secure with it in the car knowing they can help me if I'm in trouble.

There is a built in audio on the back of the unit mirror that provides direct contact.

Since Brent has been driving more than me, due to my bedrest, I told him to tell me what he thinks so far about the new OnStar system! He said......

- Every person I've talked with has been extremely nice and patient.
- The device itself is pretty cool. It’s just compacted into a normal looking review mirror
- I really feel comfortable with you having OnStar with the twins in the car. If you guys get an accident, they can notify emergency crews. If the keys are locked in the car, with the babies, they can contact a locksmith to unlock it for us!
- If the car gets stolen, OnStar can locate it.
- I like that it can act as your cell phone while you are in the car. You don't have to fiddle with your phone to dial or dig for it in your purse to find it while it's ringing. You can keep your eyes on the road.
- To dial a phone number, you read the numbers aloud. It's a bit strange as you have to read the numbers in different incriments that you would normal read a phone number. You do have to keep quiet, which is understandable, but if they miss hearing a number, you have to start over.
- For maps, I like the fact that if it's a business/restaurant, you can tell them the name and they will pull up the directions for you and then have the system read it to you. If it's a personal address, you just tell the advisor where you want to go and she'll download directions for you. I felt like the system gave me a plenty of time to follow through with the the directions.

Overall, Brent and I are extremely glad to have OnStar FMV in our car!

Puppy Love

Well, you might exactly call him a puppy. If you have been reading for a while, you probably know him as Elton...

He is our Boston Terrier and we are obsessed with him. Brent and I got him together when we had been dating for about a year and a half. Elton is now seven and a half years old. He is the best cuddle buddy ever. He is potty trained and very sweet. Sure, he has his issues like anyone else, but we think he is pretty great for a dog.

He is part of our family and always makes appearances in our Christmas cards...

He is also pretty photogenic....

Elton has a few little issues and one happens to be sensitive digestion. Brent and I try to help him with this. We only feed him dog food and we make sure it's a natural one. We know doing these things will help with his longevity and quality of life. That's important to us because he lives a happy little life and we really enjoy having him around.

Elton has been on a natural dry food for quite some time. The first vet he saw, when he was a puppy, said this would be best for him. He said, really, a natural food would be best for any dog. That totally makes sense because that's what's best for human's and their health as well. Brent and I have also worked on that over the years.

We were recently given the opportunity for him to try out Purina Pro Plan Selects. They have natural dry food options now so we decided to give it a try! Elton really seemed to like it and had no further issues with his tummy or anything else. We went with the natural chicken and brown rice formula. You can check it out here

I think food is a pretty easy step one can take to help the quality of their dogs life and I was glad to give Elton a change from what he had been eating for so long. We plan to stick with the Purina Pro Plan Select for now.

If you want to try it out, you can get a $3.00 off coupon here!

Laundry Talk!

So, as some of you may know, I am expecting twins :) Not only am I six months pregnant with two babies, I found out a few weeks ago I'm going to have to take it VERY easy until they arrive.

This has me thinking, is someone going to take over my oh-so-dreadful chore of doing the laundry? As for now, I've been instructed not to do it. Hearing you need to go on bedrest for now was NOT music to my ears, but no laundry included in the list of things I can't do, that's another story. Quite frankly, I despise laundry. I probably dislike it more than any other "chore" that comes to mind.

I'm not sure if it's our washer and dyer or just the process of putting the clothes away, but the combination of the two, I do not like. It seems like it take our dryer a full hour to dry any load. I also find myself digging through the dryer during mid-cycle to pull out clothes I don't want to get too dry. I seriously doubt I'm the only woman who feels the need to hang dry completely or partially.

Not only might I not be allowed to do laundry for a few months, but I'm going to have my hands extra full once the twins arrive. I really am not good at appointing others to do my tasks or duties. I've really been thinking of something that would help out both tremendously. If my husband and family are going to help with laundry for now, I'm thinking something quicker that I don't have to worry about over-drying or washing too hard. I also get concerned about the size of ours. I know I often want to shove more in, but I know it won't fit well enough to get it clean. I can imagine my husband wanting to squeeze it in to the brim. You get more done that way, right? Well, only if it actually cleaned when holding a extra full load. It just doesn't as well.

From what I've read, I'm thinking the Samsung Powerfoam Front-load washer and dryer would solve many of this issues with this "chore" that must get done. Everyone needs and wants clean clothes. Maybe santa will come early to our house?

Now, I have a question for you--- Around your home and out of your daily/weekly chores, what appliance would you like to see the biggest improvement in to help simply your life??

If you tell me, you have the chance to win a $100 Best Buy Gift Card!

Convenient Make-up

This is a sponsored review from BlogHer and OLAY.

So, I've I recently blogged about my efforts to take better care of my skin.

I've always been pretty good about wearing some make-up because I have freckles and I was tired of them by the time I was old enough to consider make-up. Along with wearing make-up, I've always been very good and taking it off every night.

After I had a baby, while in the hospital, facial wash wipes changed my world. No more cold water; no more looking for the always misplaced face towel to dry your face; no more getting in bed and having soap around the hairline that you didn't wash off all the way.

After learning there is a simple way to wash, I wondered what else I could save some efforts on, but still keep my face looking presentable and healthy.

One thing I've been bad at for the past few years is RUBBING MY EYES! I actually didn't start putting any concealer under my eyes until about three years ago. I woke up one day and there the dark circles were. However, I think I've probably done ten years worth of damage by rubbing the concealer on :( I have always heard the area around the eyes are one of the most sensitive areas and is usually quick to wear down. Well, unfortunately, I've always thought a quick rub here and there with concealer wouldn't do any harm, but I'm afraid I can already see that it has. Most of the concealers I've used have been in a pot like container. You put your finger in the pot to get the make-up on it and then spread under your eye. There are a few bad things about this. The top two are probably you could have a dirty finger and you are rubbing your eyes. Even if you use a concealer that has a wand to dip, you typically still have to smooth with your finger.

I recently found out about Olay Total Effects Line and Dark Circle Minimizing Brush. Not only does the concealer come in a tube that's pen like, it has 7 anti-aging therapies. So, I thought instead of using a possibly dirty finger to apply concealer, having to wash my finger after applying concealer and ultimately giving myself more wrinkles, why not try a more simple alternative?

Why pile on the products when you can sweep dark circles away?

The tube was much larger than I expected it to be, which I like.

Luckily, I LOVE teaming up with Olay and Blogher! So, if you want to enter to win a $100 Spa Finder gift card, tell me:

What do you look for to make you beauty routine more convenient?

FIVE YEARS?!?

This is a sponsored review from BlogHer and Slim·Fast.

I was just thinking the other day how Brent and I are quickly approaching ten years. No, not ten years of marriage, but five years. This fall, we will have been together for nine years, though, and married for five. That is pretty crazy to think!

For our anniversary, I'd like us to do something extra special. Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty happy and content with dinner at home or dinning out. I was thinking maybe we could plan a getaway. Maybe if I start planning this early I can find a beach vacation at an inexpensive price!

I'm a beach person. I never really learned to ski well and I just feel like the beach is so relaxing! The thought of laying on a beach right now, REALLY excites me. However, when I think about the beach, I immediately think, "but, how can I go to the beach this soon post baby?" However, then I think "should I be losing more weight this many months post baby?"

When we met, I was recently out of high school and quite thin. Brent had been in college a few years and had managed to stay pretty trim. As the years have gone by, so have the recipes. Recipe after recipe we cook. With work and life, and of course cooking, we haven't always found time to hit the gym. Brent has been much better about this than I have. I must admit, I've never really enjoyed working out for all too long. I'll do it for a couple of months and then I get tired of it and stop. keep a pretty steady pace at work since I don't sit in a desk, so I like to think that makes up for some working out.

This year, we've made a point to try to watch our diet and eat "cleaner" foods. I feel like I have to specific issues that I could work on. I eat too quickly and sometimes I go too long without eating. I think that last one can be the worst. If you wait too long in between meals, you are more likely to eat more. I think that stands true for everyone. I can buy healthy stuff all day....

However, if I don't eat often, I'm likely to eat most of this in one setting.

I'd like to see myself drop a few pounds that I've accumulated over the years. Of course, I want to do this in a reasonable fashion. I think I want to work on eating slower and working in a few more small meals. I think maybe even drinking something like Slim-Fast during the day would help!

I think my anniversary "to do" list will have two topics "$ put in a jar each week" and "pounds aiming to lose" :) This way, I can get excited as one number goes up and the other comes down. At least that's what the possibility of a beach vacation will require!

Speaking of Slim-Fast, how would you like to win a Slim-Fast gift pack??

TELL ME---How do you prepare for a big and upcoming event??

Meals for two :)

This is a sponsored review from BlogHer and Stouffer's.

So, I was thinking the other night about running to the store to get something for dinner. I thought I'll pick up something quick and easy. Then, I thought, why don't I just go get everything in one trip on Sundays?

I've got to get better at planning meals. I just do. Sometimes it's hard. I've always been one that something may sound good one minute and not as good the next. I often feel like I need options. Though we try to eat some fresh foods daily, it's not as easy to keep them around for when you are actually wanting the.

I'm also pretty bad about thinking, oh, I'll wait until Friday night to cook that. Like Friday night is really much different for us! We will enjoy a meal on Friday night just as much as we will on a Tuesday night! I guess for some reason I think if I cook something yummy it's going to take longer and doing it on a Friday night might be better, ya know in case it takes me hours into the night. At least I can sleep in Saturday, right? haha.

Then I got to thinking, I need to prepare things that taste delicious without taking me forever to make!  I think after being on my feet at work some during the day, the thought of just standing for an hour to prepare a meal seems draining.

I was hooked up to try the perfect option!
Stouffer's Saute's for Two seem to be a good fit for us! We tried the steak gorgonzola & the grilled chicken and asiago tortelloni.

They were quick and easy to make and delicious as though I spent a much longer time preparing the meal.

I guess the amount that two people eat can vary, but Brent and I paired our meals with a bread & salad. Those three combined made the meal feel pretty gourmet and filled us up! I especially liked the flavor in the grilled chicken and asiago tortelloni. The mushrooms snuck up on me when I emptied the bag into the skillet. Those weren't mentioned on the front of the bag, so I swiftly forked the chunks of them out!

Lucky for you all, BlogHer is giving away a $100 Visa Gift Card!!
